Transition to Hospital-based Clinical Area
Thank you for choosing UConn Dermatology for your health
care. We are dedicated to providing you the most up-to-date
and safest care possible.
On May 1, 2011, when the Dermatology practice at the
UConn Health Center transitioned to a hospital-based
clinical area of the John Dempsey Hospital, it became
governed by all guidelines required for clinical care and
monitoring required for a hospital. As a result, numerous
improvements in patient care and safety were initiated into
our daily routine. However, the Dermatology physicians are
not employed by John Dempsey Hospital but remain UConn
Medical Group employees. For some procedures, such as
surgeries, both John Dempsey Hospital and UConn Medical
Group will separately bill your insurance carrier. Depending
on your insurance coverage, you may be subject to co-pays
for both John Dempsey Hospital and UConn Medical Group.

or a statement from either John Dempsey Hospital or UConn

Billing FAQs
Q. How do I find out what my deductible and
co-insurance amounts are?
A. Please contact your insurance company to obtain
information on co-pay and any deductible that may apply to
the type of service you plan to receive at John Dempsey
Hospital.
Q. What will be included in my hospital bill?
A. Your hospital bill will reflect charges for John
Dempsey Hospital only. It does not include charges for
physician services. Calls regarding your physician’s
bill should be made to University Physician at 860-679-2689.
Q. What if I think there is an error on the bill?
A. If you have concerns or questions regarding your
hospital bill, please contact John
Dempsey Hospital Patient Financial Services at 860-679-5424,
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. or email us at
jdhpatientfinancialservices@uchc.edu. Confidential voice
mail is available after hours; we will return your call on
